4K: What's the Hype All About?

Yeah, I am sure all of you have heard about the 4K right about now, its the hottest word in the projectors market. But the question, what's the hype all about? Now it may be a bit expensive to purchase one right now, but it doesn't hurt to salivate over it.

4K Ultra HD

The 4K is the ultra high definition, we have heard about the 720 p and the 1080 p, but the 4K has quadruple the amount of pixels compared to the former two. The 4K Sony Projectors, will provide a resolution of 4096×2160, and can also upscale HD content into 4K quality, whereas the JVC Pro is more of a 1080p projector but it can do a 2D upconversion to 3840 x 2160 resolution. Digital Cinema has a standard of 4096 x 2160 or 8.8 megapixels for resolution.

When we hear of 1080p we recognize it as the resolution with 1080 pixels vertically, typical 1080p resolution is 1920×1080 which is ratio of 16:9. However 4K projectors get their name by taking account of the horizontal pixels (4096 or 3840) but have a standard 2160 pixels height.

Though we warn you if your laptop is not up for it, it will take ages for it to stream onto your computer but go on YouTube just to get a few glimpse of the beautiful visualization 4K brings.

Is it worth it?

It might not be worth it right now because you don't see many films or documentaries as of yet in the 4K format. However, when the prices of these beauty goes down to under the $3000 range which may take some time, then its definitely worth getting. You have the Seiki Digital 4K TV selling for $1220 riyals at Amazon.com, but we'd rather wait for more brands to come out before looking forward to buying these TVs.

As for projectors, you got the unbeatable quality in Sony VPL-VW1000ES selling for $24, 998.00 if you really want to be the coolest techie on the block, however if it were us we would rather go for the JVC PRO DLA-RS65U3D Ultra-HD projector which is significantly lower compared to the Sony 4K Projector film streaming ultra HD

There will be more releases of 4K films in the future, however for what is out there right now, the market is really bleak. You may be better off looking for 1080p projectors like the BenQ W1070, holding onto it for 2-3 years before jumping into the 4K craze.
